Acetona Dry
|

Acetona Dry is recommended for herds/flocks that have
experienced hypocalcaemia related problems such as milk fever. Several problems occur at the same time during calcium
shortage: Increased risk for milk fever, increased risk for mastitis, decreased immunity and increased stress. Calcium
is very important signal for muscle fibre movements. In addition, immune cells need Ca as an activator for antibody
production. In case milk fever legs are not working, teat muscles of udder are open, immune defence is not in a good
condition either and therefore mastitis prevalence is very obvious.
Acetona Dry replaces concentrates at equal rates in the diet
(i.e. 2 kg concentrate becomes 1kg concentrate and 1kg Acetona Dry). During the feeding of Acetona Dry, no other
mineral feed should be given. In the event that grass fodder contains high levels of postassium or calcium replace part
of it with hay or whole-crop cereal silage before calving.
Note that Acetona Dry and Acetona Energy should not be fed
during the same period.

Mode of Action
- Stimulates Ca-metabolism, improves microbial syntesis and
blood sugar content. It activates the "Ca-pump" and allows bone metabolism and effective Ca-absorption to
start safely before calving.
- Contains Xylitol and Arabinitol which has shown to enhance
microbial activity (Glasscow®) and improve palatibility.
- Contains acidifying anionic salts, calcium, phosphorus and
magnesium.
- Contains all the essential vitamins, minerals and
trace-elements that the cow/ewe needs three weeks before calving/lambing.
- Contains Progut® which inceases immune
defences and the number of microbes.
Awards

Acetona Dry was awarded three starts at Agromek in 2005.
Agromek is Europe's largest agricultural trade show which is held in Herning, Denmark every year. Due to the award
Acetona Dry has attracted large international interest and publicity.
1-3 Agromek stars (three being the highest possible) are
awarded to certain products that are considered to be of the greatest importance for the individual farmer or the
farming sector in general. To gain three stars, a product is required to have a new composition or effect that in a
significant wat improves ergonomics, comfort, environment or has economical effects.
Application
Acetona Dry is recommended for cows/ewes 2-3 weeks before
calving. The correct way to check the dosage rate is to measure urine pH, which should fall from 8 to 6-6.5 in the week
prior to calving. Generally this is achieved with a daily dosage rate of 1-3kg for cows and 0.2-0.4kg for
ewes.
It can also be fed based on a cation/anion balance (i.e. the
analysis of Na, K, S and Cl values in feed).
